We spoke with Nick Giglia from Let There Be Lighthouse regarding the upcoming August 1st Referendum on the "new" Nassau Coliseum. As you can guess from his website, Nick is urging a "Yes" vote on the topic. Full Disclosure: We invited County Executive Edward Mangano (heard nothing) and Islanders Senior Vice President Michael Picker (also heard nothing) on the Yes--vote side. We invited ABLI Executive Director Desmond Ryan (heard back immediately from his PR person Gary Lewi, but never again) and Nassau County Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs (heard nothing, but was immediately added to their mailing list!) on the No--vote side. The interview is approximately 45 commercial-free minutes in MP3 format. |

By now, you've no doubt seen many, many clips of Wally Backman back when he was managing the South Georgia Peanuts. Well, that footage all came from "Playing for Peanuts." We recently spoke with filmmaker John Fitzgerald who produced/directed the 10 episode series. Interestingly enough, John also gave us the Hall of Fame's Critic's Choice Award-winning "The Emerald Diamond" about the Irish National Baseball team. You can purchase the entire DVD series at http://www.amazon.com/Playing-Peanuts-DVD-Box-Set/dp/B001NYRCIA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Keep an eye out for the bonus "Prank School," too. |

Chris Botta, former VP of Communications for the New York Islanders, now runs an independent Blog called Islanders Point Blank which is also affiliated with Fanhouse and SNY. Chris was with the team for 20 years, years that included Mike Milbury, John Spano and the Gang of Four (should I go on?). So, obviously, Chris is uniquely qualified to give his thoughts on all things Islanders and to regale us with stories of the sometimes sublime, sometimes ridiculous, history of the team. Chris was kind enough to give Sports Talk an EXCLUSIVE when he read from e-mails that he received from John Spano from Federal Prison. The interview is 49+ commercial-free minutes in MP3 format. You can follow Chris on Twitter, too. |
